A SURE FOUNDATION
We are certainly experiencing turmoil in our world. Kevin Rudd has just uttered the “R” word…the day before the Reserve Bank of Australia told us that “any reasonable person could see that we are in a recession!” His message to Australians is; “we are weathering the financial storm much better than other developed nations.” We see world leaders grappling with these difficult financial issues, and yet every day there is more bad news. I find myself turning off the news reports at times because I am tired of the doom and gloom message that we are being bombarded with. The message we hear is one of failure and hopelessness.
It has been said; “people will only turn to Jesus when they see their need of Him”. Materialism has become the god of western culture and that foundation is crumbling, and as it crumbles, it causes us to reflect on our own foundation.
Jesus taught about the importance of foundation in Matt 7:24-27;  “Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock.  And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock.  Everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not act on them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand.  The rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and it fell—and great was its fall.”

Jesus is our foundation; He will stand through any tough times.

In the face of the storm, may I encourage you to stand firm in Christ, allowing Him to live in and through you, and to share the truth of eternal life in Jesus with any who don’t know Him as their personal Saviour.

David Sharman (National Director)
