our purpose          Capernwray Torchbearers Australia Limited exists to provide a quality Christ-centred educational environment where each individual is taught and nurtured in the Word of God.

Our goal is teaching Scripture so that the students will know God, their relationship to Him and the reality of the risen, indwelling Christ in their lives.

They will have a working knowledge of the Bible and how all its parts interrelate and be better able to take part in their church and social communities as overtly Christian people able and willing to contribute effectively.

The purpose of the Bible School is to encourage and assist students:

§         To come to know the indwelling, risen Lord Jesus Christ.

§         To understand the written Word and its revelation of Christ through careful       study of the Scriptures.

§         To come to understand God’s will for their lives.

§         To develop their God given abilities so that they may become more effective    members of the body of Christ – His Church.

§         To discover and prove in everyday experience the reality and relevance of the Christian life as Christ Himself is allowed to work in and through their lives by His Holy Spirit.

§         To gain a working knowledge of the Word of God so that they are better       equipped for daily living and Christian service regardless of their particular       occupation.

our aim                  The aim of Capernwray Bible School is to equip students with the skills needed to study God’s Word for themselves. Students learn to study the Bible through lectures, research assignments and the leading of small group Bible studies. The curriculum emphasises devotional and practical aspects to facilitate personal growth in the Christian life.

We place an emphasis on outreach – sharing the life of Christ with others. Each student is assigned to a local church and is involved in the life of that church. As well, at least once per semester, the whole student body is involved in Prac Week. This is a week of evangelistic mission enabling the student to participate in the ministries of a church or para-church organisation, putting into practice what has been learned at the School. It may include church ministry, school ministry, youth activities and evangelism in the community.

Capernwray Torchbearers is evangelical, international and non-denominational.

our history            The first Capernwray Missionary Fellowship Centre (Torchbearers) was Capernwray Hall in  the  north  of  England. It opened in 1947 under the ministry of Major W. Ian Thomas, founder of the Fellowship. The ministry extended to Europe and now operates in over 22 centres throughout the world.

Each centre functions as a base for evangelism, short-term Bible Schools, Bible Conferences and camps.

The purpose of the Fellowship is not to establish new groups or fellowships but to help young men and women become more reliable and effective in the work of their own home churches and denominations.

The organisation is not primarily interested in the numbers but rather in the quality of the young people with whom it works.
